Public Health, Healthcare, & Laboratories

The Tennessee Department of Health is moving toward pan-respiratory surveillance and response. As of January 1, 2025, healthcare providers are no longer required to report individual COVID-19 cases to TDH. However, Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) and COVID-19 associated pediatric deaths among individuals under 18 should be reported to TDH within 1 week. Suspected outbreaks of any etiology, including COVID-19, remain reportable. Healthcare providers and laboratories should report patient information using the guidance on the reportable disease webpage.

Additionally, some facilities may be required by CMS to submit respiratory pathogen data through the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) portal. For additional information, please visit NHSN COVID-19 Modules and Dashboards
